Noticeable Improvement!

Photo by Icons8 I was told- to my face- without any alternative tests being done, that all my results were bogus and that I could not possibly have brucellas abortus or Salmonella. Why?  Because. I. didn't. look. sick.  I didn't have a fever.  So what if my spleen was enlarged and my left kidney showed signs of infection, eh?  That's clearly nothing concerning. Well, after TWENTY ONE days of antibiotic treatment- prescribed by a real infectologist (internist) who wasn't inconvenienced by a patient seeking help- I finally feel like a functional person.  So.... Why be an ass? Why go there?  Because every time I think on that occasion, I curse the man.  And yeah, it was a man.  Weeks of already trying to disprove this that and the other had already passed and was still in no way better.  I almost cried in his office. I wasn't about to fight with a man who didn't even want to hear out my case as soon as I sat down.  I mean, I'm sorry for ho...

More Travel for Work

First, the good news: Human and I went to the nation's capital, not to engage with the swaths of costumed merry-making students over-running the streets, but to find out more information about another video portrait. I cannot talk even talk about it yet. Things are super exciting and we haven't even started! We are already coming up with ideas to experiment with as the work gets going.  Being in DC during the fall, I am grateful for hotel rooms that can be heated to 80f  / 26c degrees with hot water that you don't have to wait 20 minutes for. Pseudo-graffiti marks on the wall of my room won't endear a place to my heart as much as a stellar heating/ cooling system. And good wifi. But enough about hotels.  My year long illness gave me no quarter during my trip. With enough coffee and will, I  managed to walk the mall and up down, and around the Lincoln Memorial. The memorial is, oddly enough, fun and romantic, as well as inspiring and, well, heartbreaking too. peo...

New York, Yup It's Still Home

Battery Park I walked around Manhattan during September. It's true. It happened. I was there. Never made above midtown. I did go the the Hudson Yards a lot though.  Because the Armory Show was being held there.  Armory Show booth installation That's an immigrant coal miner's name on the wall It also happened to be NY Fashion Week. That meant I all at once found myself as close as 50 feet away from Very Famous People (trade mark) I chuckled at the palpable glow of their fame and wealth. I barked a laugh as I could actually recognize one of them glittering blondely in the light rain. The distance between me there unkempt and outfitted in clothing bought at the US | Mexico border and these million dollar Very Famous People (trade mark) was purely comical. What else could I do but laugh? I am a witness to ridiculous times.  Proenza Schouler fashion show rehearsal on Little Island No context shot from Proenza Schouler fashion show rehearsal on Little Island Walking the st...

Mexico City Happened, New York City Will Happen

I went off to and came back from Mexico City without much of any fanfare.  You didn't notice, did you? I thought I could just tag along on for a music event . Just slip away for a bit. Because what urgent things rest on my aching neck? More than I thought...  It was supposed to be a little vacation for me; a little time away. But when I came back from wandering through the green and previously earthquake shaken streets of Mexico City, I was hit with a suddenly urgent to-do list. After a month of suspended animation I was called into all this action. So the supposed rest and relaxation I accrued went straight out the window.  Between the things I am trying to do for myself, preparation for a big show coming up, and actual paying work- oh and my health issues, I am no blissful, carefree specimen over here. Yeah so, my health remains questionable. I after all I have been through, I developed a 'silent' tooth infection. There was no pain because I had had...

Wear your face panty!

The results of wearing the most un comfortable bra I own. July!  The month were the house starts to kill me in the manner of a slow cook oven. My space is constantly stuffy. Even with the windows open and the fans going. Heat rashes adorn my hand and feet like awful henna designs. It's been hard to sleep.  It's been hard to not get depressed. It's been hard to concentrate.  Fortunately, I won't be stuck in here for the whole  summer! At the end of this month there is a trip to Mexico City lined up. It's part work related, part mental health booster. Because I am losing my mind, thanks for asking.  I am happy to get out.  I would be thrilled to get out except there is as yet a pandemic drifting through the air.  Still drifting through the air.  Mutating as it goes. Sure, sure I got my vaccine, but there is a little fact that keeps slipping people's minds: VACCINES ARE NOT A CURE ALL. I can still get sick even if I have been vaccinated. My CHANC...

Lemuralia, It's Halloween In May!

Happy Halloween, biz-nich-izzles! Photo by  Karolina Grabowska  from  Pexels It's May. It's spring!  It's time to celebrate Lemuralia! Wut?  Is that a kind of lemur party? Well, no, not quite.  Before the Catholic Christians messed around with the dates- as they always seemed to do- the month of May was the time when some ancient Europeans would turn their thoughts to lemures  or the dead- the scary, unhappy dead. And how to make sure they weren't a bother to the living.  Romans, in particular, held observance for lemures on May 9th, 11th, and 13th.  May 11th just happens to be my birthday and it's an "unlucky" day according to the Romans. Which would explain so much about me? They warn against people getting married in May, but what of those born in the month? Are we screwed? For me, yes. I've been sufficiently, quietly screwed right over in so many ways through the years. Given the list of things that are wrong with my existence, I'...

April Ticks By

Needle mark from my second blood test April ticks by.  I do not want the month to linger, but I don't want it to vanish without my noticing; without me having left my mark on this delineated section of time. I pressure myself to write a blog post and publish it before the month ends. I have to make up for the negativity of my last post . It was a downer. That was the truth of the state I was in. But no longer. Here is my good news:  Summary:  New computer.  I am no longer battling three infections.
