test results are in - one in a million, kid

Ask me what I did in 2017.  I can tell you that I got a big raise. I can say I was on international TV. I  took trips to New Orleans and Montreal, Canada. I spent some time in L.A.  I performed on stages. I made stop motion videos shown in an art gallery...  I can also say that my body was artistic all on it's own. It   grew a tumor. This thing appeared overnight in February. It itched occasionally. It was something I could actually feel change inside my skin. For a little while I even thought it might be a parasite.  Since It was located on my chest I, naturally, went to have it checked out at a 'boob clinic.'  The woman who 'saw' me went on to make backhanded insinuations that I was overreacting. I guess, to her,  I was just behaving like so many hysterical women who come running into the clinic and waste time fussing with every little thing. Because they read too much on the Internet.  Yeah. This super...

Returning From LA

13 February 2017 We are parked again now. A spot closer to the water than the first. The beach was one of our destinations after all. I  wasn't sure. There had been talk of beating the traffic.  I know so little of LA traffic. We walk down to a  cove. A hidden gem.   It is easy to find a place a place to unfurl a blanket.  Young teen girls, blonde, still fair skinned, athletic- California to the core- play pyramid and splash in the surf. I wonder at their two piece suits and that they are not in school.  Older folk, more clothed, sit and let the sun dissolve their thoughts.  In time, both of my companions strip and aim themselves at the waves.   They let their bodies be jostled by the water giant.  Content with my notebook and pen, I do not go be laughingly drowned. I turn my back to the sun. Under my hat,  I feel rising heat tug the water out of me.  A man sits topless and cross legged in the dry sand to...

Mexico City - The Zona Maco expereince

{warming up before the race - tm} My first trip to De Jefe - Mexico City happened this month. It was a business trip for my Human's gallery Luis de Jesus and I was there as an eager and helpful gallery intern/volunteer. There were a couple of free days to explore but for the majority of the time we were are the Banamex Center for the Zona Maco art fair. That event was an experience unto itself! apart from the actual staying in Mexico City. Nubes as we all were, we discovered ( after  arriving there) that the center was, in part, a horse race track. Aaaaaand guess where I was on a Sunday afternoon! Fed up, at one point, with the endless flow of people gawking, giggling, and snubbing going on up stairs I went down and got a view of a short race- some quarter track action. With my camera it was impossible to take good shots.  Everything was happening on the far ends from where I was. As usual. Much of the Mexico City  crème de la ching  showed up. This art (a...

Seeing the Life Below

A tiny miracle happened down here in this land of bottle water and drafty sunshine. A friend from waay up in Queens made the trek across the states and the border to see a bit of the life that is Baja- Below. I had this impression that no one would EVER take me up on my offer to come down to see Jesus embracing the Pacific Ocean, hear chickens that need their timers reset, cuddle baby lions... and then- the stars aligned just right and  Hiram Pines  shows up with one of his L.A. friends,  Jess Porter . Luh-vly PEOPLE!  We sat and had a laugh about German - our different levels of language understanding being the funniest part. Our word for the day was the verb transitive- to prostitute. We drank a lively, satisfying wine with other local goodies from one of my favoritest stops along the wine route La Casa Dona Lupe . For me, it is the Italian(!) / Mexican equivalent of Brookfield Apple Orchard  in Massachusetts; which I visited often enough in my youth to ...

Post 200, at your post! Post to it!

img no.1 Waguri? The ants.. I rid the house in Mexico of ants, but then found them invading in the much more tidy and carpeted San Diego home The Human and I went up to house sit last week. I am surprised I am not having dreams of the ants... Instead, I have a very vivid and emotional charged dream of young men with guns on the street... I was shot at by one of them.. he was kind of aiming for my head... yep. Pleasant dreams. I can blame the movie that was blaring on the telly. It was all in Brazilian and yet somehow my subconscious translated it with an amazing degree of accuracy- Human gave me a rundown of the movie to confirm that I had, in fact, understood a movie that was in a foreign language while I was asleep.  But yes, I went up to San Diego and up, up twice to L.A. L.A. = Ethiopian fooood! I revisited my fav spot in Little Ethiopia for a welcomed stomach disturbance of epic roundness. As I said before, this is one reason I will not destroy the whole place....

OCMA god

OCMA {2}

Could a white wall be more interesting than rich people I don't know and art that will not be fading away in 30 mins? Why, yes. A glass of champagne for all. You see here a me shaped shadow. I got  total bitch vibe from this photographer. We exchanged glances once and  a lot of negative information fell out of that look like intestines into toilet. I  felt like she went out of her way to avoid taking any pictures with me in them. Somebody please tell me she is the sweetest person in the world and I got it all wrong. Art and people mingled here.  I am thankful for alcohol sometimes. It gave me the lack of nerves to shoot this stuff right in front of so many judgemental artist types.

Hotel Life

The usual Newport Beach weather. The Newport Beach weather after Magarios on opposite ends of the continent talk about how there has been too much rain in the North East. {Yes,   +Mom , a fog rolled in a few hours after that phone conversation.}
