New York, Yup It's Still Home

Battery Park I walked around Manhattan during September. It's true. It happened. I was there. Never made above midtown. I did go the the Hudson Yards a lot though.  Because the Armory Show was being held there.  Armory Show booth installation That's an immigrant coal miner's name on the wall It also happened to be NY Fashion Week. That meant I all at once found myself as close as 50 feet away from Very Famous People (trade mark) I chuckled at the palpable glow of their fame and wealth. I barked a laugh as I could actually recognize one of them glittering blondely in the light rain. The distance between me there unkempt and outfitted in clothing bought at the US | Mexico border and these million dollar Very Famous People (trade mark) was purely comical. What else could I do but laugh? I am a witness to ridiculous times.  Proenza Schouler fashion show rehearsal on Little Island No context shot from Proenza Schouler fashion show rehearsal on Little Island Walking the st...

Productivity, thy name is... Espresso

It happened! Before I got all my stitches removed, I hauled my butt over to- even more warm weather, sunshine, palm trees, ocean, and Spanish.  I took my DFSP adventure time all the way to Miami, Fla.  We time traveled twice over: moving three hours ahead plus an hour for daylight savings time.  So during that first week, I was simply feeling magical ! -as said with a great amount of sarcasm. I didn't know how quickly I would feel ready for doing anything. Before this trip, I was barely recovered of the vampiric drain on my life force from two weeks of- oh hey, I have an open hole in my chest!  (None of you are ready to see those pictures.)  It took so long to get closed up because I don't live close to decent labs. They needed time to ship samples out and run detailed tests. And I had to get cut twice. In the first procedure they made a 6x7cm hole.  In the second procedure they took out everything down to the muscle. Just to be certa...

Hibernative

A frosted eye look because I am from a snow place. A hibernation instinct is hitting me hard this month and of course custom won't let me follow my animal nature so... There is no snow, but talk of skiing in Aspen at the Crosthwaite family gathering. Sparklers and coffee in hand we braved the night chill for a photo op. Since last week, for sure, I know I have been fighting off a dreaded something . Human and his mom have already succumb to it (in one form or another) and for me, I knew it's a matter of time. Bolstered with caffeine, I was able to have a lovely time at the one seasonal party I have been able to attend. Then, with alluring temperatures, Christmas morning enticed me out. Once again, going against my "lazy" inclinations, I dragged Human with me to the beach. We could not pass up this, erherm... Yule Tide... ahem... but that Santa Ana Wind, that diseased carrying strumpet , was my downfall. By evening, I was sporting a low grade fever that spiked ...

The squid skin horse on the beach- Blue Roan anywhere else

I saw a horse on this beach. It was the same color as all the colors you see in the picture accompanying this text. The horse was the whole beach itself running around and around on a lead. In the late afternoon sun the animal was shifting between rusted metal, pale smoke, misty blue sky, wet and dry sand, sloppy dark mud, visible and invisible. If I had been able to take a picture of it, you would not have seen it anyway.
